Lyme, March 8, 1776 Ranaway from the Subscriber, a Mellato Fellow named SY, about 5 Feet 5 inches high, about 25 Years of Age, has a curl'd Head, well built; had on when he went off, thick Jacket of a mix'd Colour, black and white, Breeches of the same, Stockings of the same Colour, Buckles in his Shoes, a striped flannel under Jacket, a check shirt Black and White; and carried off with him a thick Jacket of a mix'd Colour Black and Blue, a white Holland Shirt, a felt Hatt, buff Cap, and a Fiddle. Whoever takes up said Negro and secures him, or retuns him to his Master, shall have Ten Dollars Reward, and all necessary Charges, paid by JOSHUA POWERS. N.B. Masters of Vessels are fobid to carry of said Slave.
