Run away on the 5th instant, from John Llyod of Stanford, in the Colony of Connecticut, a negro man servant, named Cyrus, about 5 feet 9 inches high, well built but rather slim waisted, legs, and feet somewhat large, has lost one of more of his teeth about 30 or 32 years of age, long visaged, very black, active and ingenious in all sorts of country business and is a good butcher, bred in the country, speaks good english, and a little French, but stammers when frighted, or confused: had on when he went off, an iron collar riveted round his neck, and a chain fastened to it. Carried away with him a red cloath jacket and another of brown frize, both considerable worn, black everlasting breeches almost new, two trowsars, white stockings cotton or linnen, coarse tow shirt; 'tis not unlikely he may consort with any deserter, or other stragling fellow he may meet with, as about 2 years ago he ran off with 2 deserters, and was taken up at Philadelphia. Whoever takes up said negro, is desired not to trust him a moment till he is put in irons and secured in some of his Majesty's goals, otherwise, his crime, being great he will certainly give them the slip; & upon sending me word, so that I may have him again, such person shall have, five pounds New-York money reward, and all reasonable charges, paid by John Lloyd. N.B. As inserting the advertisements, in the several news papers, is judged the most expeditious, method of spreading them far and near, if any gentlemen will be so good , when they have read their Papers, to cut out the advertisement and set it up in the most public place, it will be esteemed as a favour; and all matters of vessels and others, are cautioned against harbouring or carrying him off as they will answer it at their peril.
