STOP VILLAINS! The prison of Newgate was broke up last night, one of the guard killed, and a number more wounded, and the following prisoners escaped (and carried off with them the arms and ammunition belonging to the guard) viz. Chadwell Parsons, Luke Morris, William Young and Stephen Prentice, committed for making and passing counterfeit money; Nicholas Davenport, for being accessary in murder and house burning; Pelatiah Turner, for horse steraling, attempting to join the enemy, &c. David Worster, Samuel Doolittle and Henry Worster, for illicit trade and joining the enemy; Benjamin Prescott, for illicit trade and joining the enemy; Benjamin Prescott, for illicit trade; Peter Stackett, John Heacock, Ebenezer Harthaway, Thomas Smith and William Wharton, for joining the enemy; Elihu Rennals, James Derby, Heth Baldwin, Samuel Holt, Ephraim Palmer and James Bush, by sentence of a court-martial, and it's supposed they will attempt to join the enemy: All persons are therefore warned to take care of their vessels and boats, and, by order of his Excellency the Governor, all officers, civil and military, are authorized and directed to call to their assistance, such of the military as they shall judge necessary, and enter and search such places as they have have reason to suppose any of said prisoners are concealed in, and apprehend and return them to the said prison; and all persons are directed to give all the aid and assistance in their power, and secure ans return the said Prisoners to the said prison, for which they shall be generously rewarded and all necessary charges paid.
