Camp, Canaan, Sept. 13, 1779. DESERTED from Capt. David Edgar's troop, Col. Elisha Sheldon's regiment of Cavalry, two Dragoons, the one named William Wooding, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, well set, of a dark complexion, has a wife at Darby, Oxford precinct, where he formerly lived. The other named Thomas Rose, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, and well proportioned, has no hair on his head, commonly wears a small tied wig, has been wounded through the arm and in the belly, he formerly lived near Stonington, are both natives of Connecticut. Whoever takes up said deserters and conveys them to their regiment or secures them so that they may be had again, will render essential service to their country and shall receive eighty dollars reward and all reasonable charges paid, or forty dollars for either of them. As it is expected they will endeavor to get on board some privateer, all masters of vessels are forbid harboring or concealing them, as they will answer it at their peril.
