Deserted from Capt. Enoch Chapin's company and Col. Porter's regiment, John Picket, about five feet ten inches high, well set, pitted with the small pox; had on when he went away, a red coat, blue vest and ribbed breeches; also John Smith, five feet six inches high, thick set, something pitted with the small pox; had on a blue sailor's vest and blue breeches, both of them Irishmen; also Caleb Fitch, born in Colchester, in Connecticut, about five feet eight inches high; had on a brown coat and vest, a pair of leather breeches; he has been cropped and branded. Whosoever will take up said deserters, and secure them, and give notice to Major David Leonard, at West Springfield, or return them or either of them, to the said regiment, shall be entitled to three dollars for each, and all necessary charges paid, by me LUKE DAY, Lieutenant in said regiment. Skenesborough, May 5, 1776.
