This is to notify the Public, That whereas Samuel Gridley hath seen cause to post me the subscriber, and forbid any person's harbouring or entertaining me, and further, has tried to ruin my Character, by saying that I have spent his Estate, and refused to bed and board with him, therefore I think it my duty to vindicate my character, and lay the truth open to the public, by giving a short account of his confuct towards me since marriage. In the first place, when I took him into my house, I had a family of three children, who were able to do business; within three months he began to find fault with my children, which I put out for the sake of peace; after whih he lived with me about seven months; and then left my house about eight months, without giving any notice when or where he was going; he then returned home again with the same uneasy temper as before; but soon left home again, and that was his manner of life for five or six years, during which time I was obglied to provide for myself by working at day labour; nor did he ever bring any of his interest for my support, and since, he leased out my thirds of the house, and have taken a family into it, and locked me out, and told me to be missing; for which and other reason, I am afraid to live with him; but shall submit to the judgment of the impartal public, whether it be my duty to live with my husband as such, in continual fear of my life. He has likewise taken from me my bed and clothes, and other valuables; whereby he has disabled me from keeping house: And for want of my bed, I have lain many nights on the floor.
