Run away from the subscriber on the 18th of inst. May, an apprentice boy, named Ichabod Swadale, he is in the 18th year of his age, is a lusty smart boy of his age, walks pretty straight, and goes with his thighs and legs close together, hath straight hair hanging round his neck and of a light brown colour, great eyes, and is apt to talk very loud and unmannerly when in company. Had on when he went away, on old short pale blue coat, blue and white vest, old black and white striped wollen trowsers, woolen shortm and old castor hat, no stockings nor shoes, has work'd at the business of a wheel wright and bouse carpenter, and of late hath work'd some at making chaise wheels and carriages at Hartford. Whoever shall take up said run away, and return him to me shall have Four Pence reward, and all necessary charges paid by me, David Smith. Chatham, May 27, 1774.
