These are to inform the public, that whereas a transient Negro man, who calls his name Fortune, to apperance about 50 years of age, of a middling stature, who came to Torrington on the 18th day of January last, and taken in by Mr. Aaron Austin of said town, in a very distressing condition, on account of his being much froze, where he remains at great charge. And as no intelligence can be had by said Negro, he giving so many false accounts where he came from, or who his master is, although great inquiry having been made therefor, both in and out of the government. Therefore desire whoever is knowing where he belongs, or who his master is, would be so good as to aquaint the subscribers, so that if any iniquity there have been, concerning the said Negro, to convey him away by his master, as is supposed, to get rid of his maintenance, might be found out, and he be obliged to pay all costs arisen.
