Wheras my perfiduous wife Mary, on the 23rd day of October last, willfully eloped from my bed and board, and I am told is now in the town of Suffield, in the colony of Connecticut, and am apprehensive she may run me in debt. These are therefore to forbid all manner of persons from trusting the said Mary, on my credit, in any pretences whatsoever, for I shall utterly refuse paying any debts contracted by the said Mary. Elijah Metcalf. East-Haddam, January 7, 1771.
